A Taste of the Hearty Life

The idea behind “Hearty Chowder” started after tastefully devouring one of my favorite café’s filling soups. Their chowder was simply divine! It was cooked with various ingredients that just blended so well which left me so warm and fulfilled.
I thought my life is just like that! As richly made from the variety of ingredients of a chowder, mine is made of different experiences (good and tough ones) and inspirations that make it worth living for.
A taste of photography, travel, events, lifestyle, discoveries, beauty and inspirational notes, random thoughts and tons more - that's what you'll find in a bowl of hearty chowder. A taste of the hearty life which gets even more delightful when shared!

Let's live well and savor every taste of the hearty life!

Teach us to live wisely and well!”

Thank You for refurbishing me season after season. That’s why my life has never been boring. Every now and then is a new and even much better design.
Thank You for daily replenishing me with the freshest portion of grace, strength and hope.
You are always a Giver (a gracious One) and never a taker.
We have to be willing to be blessed beyond our wildest expectations so that we can be a blessing beyond our wildest expectations. If we are willing to do that - to be modern-day Abrahams using our resources to further God’s kingdom on the earth - then we must put ourselves into positions to be used of God in ways we have never before thought possible. We just have to step out in faith as Abraham did, obey God, and walk in His blessings. (Galatians 3:6-9, 13-14)

Whenever I hear the word “raw” what goes to my mind is complete “ewweeeness” except for some sushi, sashimi and steak tartare (raw beef which I tried just once in “Pah-reeh”). I thought about raw pancreas and other intestines when I hear the word. But I have discovered that there is something beautiful and beneficial with “raw” and by that word Mrs. Aileen de Guzman, a green living advocate and chef means something else ~ a discovery to a new world of eating delights.

By raw, it means eating cold and uncooked food which I’m sure most of us can’t imagine ourselves doing. Simply because we are used to consuming hot, cooked and even conveniently fast but unhealthy foods nowadays. But many people are not aware of its benefits such as:

  • helps lower blood pressure
  • lowers cholesterol
  • improves eyesight
  • reduces migraine
  • heal allergies and skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis
  • aid in reversing chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, fibromyalgia, cancer, etc.
  • loose or gain fat quickly and easily (getting to yoru own natural metabolic weight)
  • smooth, clear skin and nails that grow quickly and strong
  • vibrant, shiny, healthy hair
  • more brain power, focus and concentration
  • for vitality and energy
I heard that many famous celebrities and even athletes are already in raw lifestyle too such as Demi Moore, Alicia Silverstone, Woody Harrelson, Carol Alt, Devon Aoki, Ginnifer Goodwin, and even Miss O - Ophrah Winfrey herself (more list: Celebrities on Raw). Personally, it’s a bit challenging for me to go 100% raw but I have started with “juicing” not regularly though and thought it’s not really that bad. In fact, I have never seen carrot juice in such a different light - so good, tasty and healthy! Yum-Yum! You can also start with your raw lifestyle by slowly introducing juicing or even just fresh and organic salads and fruits in your daily menu.
Last Saturday, Mrs. Aileen shared something awesome at her Raw Food Workshop where she featured Italian dishes and dehydration. She shared techniques and short cuts for daily food preparations, healthy food tips and even the right kitchen tools to use. What I like about her workshops is the warm atmosphere wherein you can just freely ask, listen and participate.
Below are some of the photos I took at her class which features her “raw” take on some Italian dishes. Very creative! :)

FRUIT ROLL UPS (Everybody’s favorite because it’s dessert - sweet and chocolatey)
